Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Chameleon game (the “Game”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you play it, whether in a web browser or as a mobile app. Chameleon is a free hide-and-seek camouflage game. We have designed it to collect as little information as possible, and we never sell your data.

Information we do not collect

• We do not require an account, sign-up, or login.
• We do not ask for your email address, phone number, or real name.
• We do not show ads or use advertising trackers.
• We do not use analytics or tracking cookies to profile you.
• We do not knowingly collect any information from children beyond the minimal gameplay data described below.

Information the Game uses

• Display name. When you type a name to play, it is stored locally on your own device and, in online multiplayer, is shared with the other players in your game room so they can see who is playing. You can enter any nickname you like — it does not need to be your real name.
• Gameplay data in multiplayer. During an online match, temporary in-game data (such as your chameleon’s position, colour, and role) is sent through a real-time database so other players in the same room can see the game update live. This data is tied only to the temporary room and is removed when the room ends.
• Local device storage. Your chosen name and your personal best time are saved in your browser/device’s local storage so the Game can remember them next time. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us.

How multiplayer works

Online multiplayer is powered by Google Firebase Realtime Database. When you create or join a room, the temporary gameplay data described above passes through Firebase so players can see each other in real time. Firebase may process technical connection data (such as IP address) to deliver this service; that processing is governed by Google’s Firebase privacy terms. We do not store this technical data ourselves or use it to identify you, and game rooms are temporary.

Data retention

Multiplayer room data is ephemeral and is discarded when the game room closes. Locally stored data (your name and best score) remains on your device until you clear your browser/app storage. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app.

Children’s privacy

Chameleon is a family-friendly game. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only user-provided data is a self-chosen nickname, and no accounts or personal details are required to play.

Third-party services

The Game uses Google Firebase to provide real-time multiplayer. We do not integrate advertising networks or third-party analytics. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy.

Your choices

• You can play solo mode without any data leaving your device.
• You can use any nickname; you never have to provide identifying information.
• You can clear locally stored data at any time via your browser/app settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” above. Continued use of the Game after an update means you accept the revised policy.
